Long-serving Langdyke treasurer Brian Lawrence was given a special gift at the Trust’s annual meeting to mark his retirement from the role.
Chair Richard Astle presented Brian with a specially created piece of artwork designed by Langdyke’s Artists in Residence Sarah Lambert and Kathryn Parsons.
They had used their skills to produce a special framed piece of artwork depicting the Langdyke tree which is used on the Trust’s publicity material (pictured below).
The gift was on behalf of the trust’s board members.
Richard paid tribute to the hard work and guidance Brian has given the organisation since he took up the role including the transformation of the Trust into a charitable incorporated organisation.
Brian will continue as a board member for the time being and has been replaced as treasurer by Andrew Curwen. Sheila Dunford has taken on the role of assistant treasurer.
The annual meeting, which was held in the barn at Etton, involved Richard speaking about the work of the Trust and hopes for the future. Andrew gave an update about the finances and David Cowcill praised the work of the volunteers while telling the audience that the reserves were in excellent condition thanks to their hard work.
There was also a presentation by about the Bainton and Ashton nature nature recovery work.
David Alvey also stood down as a trustee and board member because he is moving from the area and was thanked for his work – particularly in relation to the John Clare Countryside project and health and safety issues.
After the meeting members enjoyed a tour of the Vergette Wood Meadow.
