Soaring temperatures mean that Langdyke has reluctantly decided to cancel this Sunday’s BioBlitz event.
Organisers say that the predicted temperatures on Sunday – in the high twenties – will mean that it is impossible to do counts of small mammals and insects as was planned.
It is hoped that the BioBlitz will be re-organised once cooler temperatures arrive.
But the Trust’s annual meeting on Saturday will still go ahead and Langdyke will be leaving gates open to its Etton Vergette Meadow reserve on Sunday so that visitors can still walk around the site.
The wildflowers were described by one walker on Facebook as ‘breathtaking’. The meadow is a mix of yellow and white interspersed with other colours.
Paths have been cut to enable walkers to stroll through and admire the nature that this very special meadow has to offer.
