Get the year underway with a walk – a mooch, not a march – with Langdyke friends.
Starting at the Torpel reserve at 1pm, where cars can be parked, the walk will be led by Mike Horne.
The plan is to head out on a roughly circular walk west to Ashton and Bainton, taking in some of their ancient features such as the church, the medieval washdyke and the buttercross.
Mike said: “The route is just over 5 kilometres, which might usually take 1 hour and twenty minutes to walk, but we are allowing for folks to dawdle, take in the sights and stop and talk about things, so it is likely to be about two hours in duration.”

It will end back at the cabin at Torpel with a hot cup of tea and a brief rest for those that aren’t in a rush to leave.
There is no need to book.
