As part of the John Clare Countryside Project, local Parish Councils are developing Parish Nature Recovery Plans to provide a medium-term plan for creating more nature-rich habitat in the villages and surrounding countryside.
One of the areas of focus is gardens, which play a key role in connecting habitats and providing safe refuges for wildlife in an ever-busy environment.
They are also a place where people can easily connect with nature and see the positive impact their actions are having.
In order to understand how well we are doing at looking after the wildlife in our gardens, we first need to know what habitats and species they currently support.
