A tree services company – keen on supporting nature projects – has been giving Langdyke Countryside Trust a helping hand.
Willow Tree Services has offered the Trust its services free of charge for several days to carry out work on some of the nature sites.
Workers spent a day recently on the Christ’s College Nature site employing heavy machinery to remove areas which the Trust’s volunteers would have struggled to deal with. And the company has promised more days in the future.
As a result new viewing areas have been created at the site, alongside the South Drain, giving walkers the chance to see areas of the reserve which have so far not been viewable.
Phill Geoghegan, Owner of Willow Tree Services, said “As a local firm, we’re delighted to be donating our time, expertise and machinery to support the Langdyke Trust with their tree work, helping to look after and maintain green spaces that local people and visitors can continue to enjoy.
“Supporting our local community is really important to us, so we’re proud to play a small part in caring for these spaces.”
Langdyke volunteer, Steve Zealand, who supervises the site, which is between the South Drain and the Maxey Cut bordering the Helpston to Maxey road, said: “Our volunteers do a magnificent job but there are some areas where they can’t work. Heavy machinery power tools are needed at those points to clear trees and hedges.
“We are very grateful to Willow Tree Services for supporting us in this way.”
