If you haven’t visited the Etton Maxey reserve lately you will find there are some changes to the way you get into it.
Old entrances have been closed and new ones created in preparation for Anglian Water to perform pipeline work across a large area of land.
The pipeline is part of a major project which affects large areas of farmland across the area to install a new water supply.
The work – currently on hold – will take at least two years once it resumes and entails
- the creation of three work compounds within the reserve
- large lengths of pipeline being buried
- hedgerow and trees being ripped out
- a new interior fence to segregate the work area.
The old entrance to the reserve through the car park area is now closed and a new pedestrian entrance has been created at the Maxey Cut end.
There is also a new entrance off the Maxey Cut near to the bridge which is used by Tarmac to transport gravel.
