Langdyke trustee David Alvey has accepted the Wildlife Trust’s Big Wild Walk challenge – with some of the proceeds going to our appeal to buy land for nature.
He will be walking a route around John Clare Countryside on Friday, October 28 and he would welcome your support.
The Wildlife Trust have issued a challenge to walk 30km in support of their 30 by 30 mission to protect and connect at least 30 per cent of land and sea for nature by 2030.
David, who lives in Barnack, has picked up this challenge and is planning to walk 30km around the John Clare countryside on Friday 28th October.
The planned route will take in Burghley Park and the Welland Valley, parts of Torpel Way, Hereward Way and almost 5km of the old roman road Ermine Street. The route also visits Barnack Hills and Holes, Castor Hanglands, Southey Woods and of course John Clare cottage.
He says: “With a few refreshment stops to be planned and a finish at The Millstone in Barnack as an incentive the 30km should fly by.”
There are several ways you can support the venture … making donations to the Wildlife Trust supporting their campaign or more locally to Langdyke Countryside Trust to enable it to expand its managed and owned land holdings in the John Clare Countryside with the purchase of the Christ’s College Pits land.
