Another new year and another set of January images recording the wonderful nature all around us.
We are kicking off 2021 with this fabulous picture of a green woodpecker photographed by Sarah Lambert on the Etton Maxey reserve. It is our image of the month for January.
Each month we select photographs taken by our Facebook members and posted on our site. They might not be technically perfect – but they sum up the events of that month. Here are some other images from January. You can click on them to enhance your viewing.
Our reserves started (and ended) the month heavily flooded with a cold weather snap in between that brought snow and ice.
These shots of the Etton Maxey reserve summed up the changing picture. This shot by Brian Lawrence shows the extent of the water on the ground.
And then at the end of the month David Rowell took these images of the snow covered landscape and the Langdyke sheep enjoying an early morning feed.
It was a similar picture at Swaddywell as the picture taken by Richard Astle shows.
It was a good job that one of our work parties managed to install the new Sand Martin box at Vergette Wood Meadow before the latest Covid lockdown came into force. Within days it was surrounded by water.
Despite the weather Langdyke members managed to get out and about using their daily walks to stay in touch with nature.
Steve Lonsdale saw these roe deer on land between the South Drain and Helpston.
And Claire Noble took these lovely images during a walk around Swaddywell.
It was good weather for ducks and other water fowl. Angela Trotter captured this image on one of the pits near Maxey.
Langdyke member Jackie Robinson posted on Facebook that she had enjoyed her first walk around the Torpel Manor field and took these photos as a result.
