Langdyke’s artist in residence Kathryn Parsons got an early Christmas present as she went for an early morning walk … finding herself face to face with an Otter.
She made the sighting while walking on the Etton Maxey reserve and took this amazing video. You can view it on Langdyke’s YouTube channel here
There has been evidence that Otters – regularly seen along the Maxey Cut – had been on the site. But no one had actually had the chance to capture them on camera.
Kathryn said: “I went over to Etton Maxey because I woke early and decided to go and watch the sunrise – even though it was a foggy morning and I actually knew seeing the sun was unlikely. It would have been a brilliant thing to do anyway.
“But seeing an otter that close was simply awesome. It’s the first one I have seen locally and only the second I have seen in my lifetime and the best view I have ever had.”
