A leading nature writer will be the keynote speaker at Langdyke’s annual meeting on Thursday, July 9.
Nic Wilson (pictured above), one of the patrons of the John Clare Countryside, will be guest speaker at the event at the barn at Etton High Meadow.
She’ll be talking about her work and her love for the countryside and the inspiration she draws from Clare’s poetry and landscapes. All Langdyke members and volunteers are welcome free of charge.
Nic is an author, editor and Guardian country diarist. She works for BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine, specialising in wildlife, wild plants and environmental issues. Her nature memoir, Land Beneath the Waves, on nature, place and chronic illness, was published in 2025 and listed as one of BBC Wildlife Magazine’s Best Nature Books of the year.
She’s also talking at the John Clare Cottage on June 29, delivering a nature writing workshop.
The meeting will also hear of another successful year for the Trust and, weather permitting, there will be the chance of a walk around part of Langdyke country at the end of the evening.
