An exclusive members only event will mark 70 years since the first National Nature Reserves were designated.
The Festival of National Nature Reserves event is entitled Barnack Stone – from the Hills and Holes to Peterborough Cathedral.
Numbers are limited – and will be exclusively for members only . This unique free event is to celebrate this special anniversary and explore the link between Peterborough Cathedral and the National Nature Reserve at Barnack where the stone originated.

A fascinating tale of wildlife, history, geology and archaeology of these two renowned sites. It will start with a guided walk at Barnack Hills and Holes Nature Reserve and then travel to the cathedral itself to complete the story of the stone.
The event is on Sunday September 18 at 10am starting in the car park at Barnack Hills and Holes National Nature Reserve
It will include a guided walk of the nature reserve and after a break for lunch and travel to Peterborough there will be a guided tour of the Cathedral ending at about 3pm.

This is a free event, but booking is essential and your own transport is required. Our guided walks are popular, if you are unable to attend please let us know or cancel your ticket.
Please note that the walk will go over uneven ground and is not suitable for buggies or wheelchairs.

Parking:
Barnack Hills and Holes Nature Reserve: The Reserve is situated in the village of Barnack, 11 km north west of Peterborough (see map below). The site is open all the year round and parking is available at several points close by, although visitors are encouraged to use the car park on Wittering Road. Cycle parking is also provided.
Peterborough Cathedral: There is no public parking available in Peterborough Cathedral grounds (Precincts), but plentiful parking is available just outside, within a 5-10 minute walk.
