BBC Gardeners’ World presenter Adam Frost is being joined by two other experts for a special panel discussion exclusively for Langdyke members.
Adam – who lives locally and is a Langdyke patron – will make up a distinguished trio of ‘Tree’ wise men, alongside the head forester of Prince Charles’ Duchy of Cornwall estate and Kew Garden’s top man.
The trio will be talking to Langdyke members in a special online session at 7.30pm on Tuesday, June 1.
The event will be free to full members with non -members paying £3.50.

Guesting with Adam will be Geraint Richards, Head Forester for the Duchy of Cornwall, and Tony Kirkham who currently holds the top job in arboriculture as Kew’s Head of Arboretum, Gardens and Horticultural Services.
Tony – a holder of the MBE and the Victoria Medal of Honour – manages 14,000 trees in his role heading the team at Kew. He is the author of four books and ran the ‘Treeathlon’ to support the Trees for Cities campaign for more trees in urban areas in the UK. He says that “looking at trees anywhere in the world” is one of his hobbies.
Geraint was presented with the Royal Forestry Society Gold Medal for distinguished services to forestry by Prince Charles. It is the top honour made by the Royal Forestry Society. He studied Forestry at Bangor University and worked for four years for the Forestry Commission in Kent and East Sussex as a forest officer before being appointed to his current post in 1996. As Head Forester, he is responsible for the management of more than 5000acres of trees, woodlands and forests across the Duchy’s extensive land-holding in the South-West of England and Herefordshire.
It is the second time Adam Frost has spoken to Langdyke members. An expert garden designer noted for his successes at the Chelsea Flower Show, he also regularly presents BBC Gardeners; World.
Trees have and continue to form an iconic part of our landscape from the spectacular blossom they bring to our gardens, the majestic individual specimens in our country’s parklands and the evocative atmosphere we find when walking through woodland.
This panel of experts have agreed to talk to Langdyke Countryside Trust members about all things tree related. From what has impacted our landscape in the past, what threatens it today to what we might be doing to mitigate the risks they and therefore our landscape and wildlife face in the future.
It promises to be an excellent not-to-be missed evening.
