The annual meeting of the Langdyke Countryside Trust will be held on Wednesday, June 16 at 7.30pm.
The event – which will again be online this year – will give members the chance to hear from treasurer Brian Lawrence how the organisation has fared financially during 2020.
As well as the formal business there will be a report from chair Richard Astle as well as a wide range of informative conversations reviewing the year and looking ahead to what’s coming up.
A copy of the annual review publication will also be emailed out to members.
The AGM gives the membership the chance to elect new trustees to run the Trust for the next three years. The role of trustee is vital to the successful running of the organisation, especially in a volunteer led organisation which has no paid staff, such as Langdyke.
So, you might be asking what does a trustee do?
Trustees are the managers of the trust. Trustees lead the charity and decide how it is run. Being a trustee means making decisions that will impact the direction and development of the Trust. Because of what Langdyke Countryside Trust does, you will be making a difference to your local area, the landscape and the natural environment.
- Ensure the Trust is carrying out its purposes for the public benefit
- Comply with the Trust’s governing document and the law
- Act in the Trust’s best interests
- Manage the Trust’s resources responsibly
- Act with reasonable care and skill
- Ensure the Trust is accountable.
However, in a volunteer led organisation, such as Langdyke, trustees are also expected to take an active, hands-on interest in the running of the Trust.
To become a trustee, you must be a member of the trust, over 18 years and not be an undischarged bankrupt.
We are therefore looking for active members who are willing to take an active part in managing the trust and its development.
