The New Year’s Day stroll is back – giving you the chance to join like-minded friends for a walk to welcome in the New Year.
And you will be stepping out in style – the first people to use a new entrance into the Etton Maxey reserve (pictured above).
David Cowcill is leading the walk – back after an absence of a couple of years, mainly due to Covid. The meeting point for the January 1 event is the barn at Etton High Meadow (1pm).
There will be a choice of routes on the day of either two or three miles taking in the South Drain and the Maxey Cut. And David is also likely to introduce walkers to the new entrance into the Etton Maxey reserve from the Maxey Cut using the newly installed steps – the recent work of the reserve volunteers.
It is likely to be very wet and muddy in places so please ensure you wear the right type of walking gear including appropriate footwear.
There should be plenty of winter views during the trek. And you never know … you might catch a glimpse of a murmuration on the way.
