Langdyke now has a Poet in Residence.
Will Thompson – who grew up in and around Helpston – joins the Trust as part of our arts team. Many who attended the summer annual meeting event will remember Will reading some of his work – which features countryside matters
Kathryn Parsons and Sarah Lambert are already in post as Artists in Residence and are delighted that Will has come on board.
Will’s work has appeared in Poetry Wales, Wild Court, The Honest Ulsterman and a wide range of print and online journals. His debut pamphlet, After Clare is published by New Walk Editions and explores the landscape and legacy of the great labouring-class poet John Clare.
Will said: “It is one of the greatest honours of my life to be appointed as the Langdyke Trust’s first poet-in-residence.
“During my residency I’ll do my utmost to to contribute to the Trust’s activities and promote the link between the land in and around Helpston, which we all cherish, and its literary heritage. With Langdyke’s wonderful members, I hope to organise writing workshops, poetry walks and community events to allow as many people as possible to engage with the Trust’s brilliant work.
