Ermine Street reserves – an introduction
The Ermine Street subgroup, part of the southern area, is the newest addition to Langdyke and is the successor to the Friends of the Barnack Hills and Holes organisation which merged into the Trust in 2018.
Its area of interest is broadly based on the route of the Roman road – Ermine Street from Burghley Park to the River Nene near Wansford.
It encompasses the important National Nature Reserve of the Hills and Holes, two Nature Reserves at Southorpe, miles of protected roadside verges near Barnack and an attractive walk beside the River Welland at Uffington.
Ermine St subgroup does not have any direct management roles but it liaises with Parish Councils, organises events, assists with wildlife counts and provides information in these areas
